A DRIVER who crashed after speeding through Northfield while being pursued by the police has been jailed for three years.
The man was also banned from driving for five years and was fined £2,400.
The car had been involved in a theft before it was spotted by eagle-eyed police officers around 9.30pm on April 15, 2019.
The man tried to outrun them, speeding along a number of streets, including the Bristol Road South, Frankley Beeches Road and Inverness Road.
He reached speeds of 50mph and 60mph in built up areas where the limit is 30mph and eventually crashed in Merritts Brook Lane, causing himself and his passenger serious injuries.
Following the conviction, which was delayed because of the Covid-caused court backlog, West Midlands Police released the footage of the pursuit. Click here to watch it on Facebook or below to see it on Twitter.
