PEOPLE across Northfield and south Birmingham are being invited to remember lost loved ones during a special Tree of Light memorial service.
The virtual event, organised annually by Mortons Funeral Directors, is now available to watch online after going live yesterday (Sunday, December 8).
Over the past few weeks, people have been either writing the names of loved ones on memorial stars or the team at Mortons have been writing the dedications on their behalf.
The memorial stars have now been placed on the Tree of Light tree which is shining brightly outside Mortons Northfield office.
The invitation to submit a memorial star or to watch the online service is not limited to those Mortons have made funeral arrangements for in the past, everyone is welcome.
There has been an overwhelming response with more than 1,750 memorial stars submitted through the Mortons Tree of Light website.

‘Privileged to be there for families’
Sarah Case, the managing director of Mortons Funeral Directors, said: “Throughout the year, we are privileged to serve families during some of their most difficult moments.
“Sometimes, of course, the loss of someone dear affects each of us here at Mortons, and the privilege of caring extends to members of our own team.
“Writing these stars allows us to reflect on those we have loved and lost and deepens our understanding of the grief and memories carried by every family we serve.”
Over the last 16 years, as well as enabling people to remember lost loved ones, the Tree of Light Memorial Service has raised more than £16,000 for charity.
While there is no charge to place a star, Mortons provides a link to its chosen charity, the Motor Neurone Disease Association, for those who want to donate and will also make a contribution to the Salvation Army – Droitwich Corps as a token of gratitude for their support.
Anyone who wants to honour their loved one with a memorial star on the Mortons Tree of Light, wants to donate or wants to watch the moving Tree of Light Service should visit mortonstreeoflight.co.uk or call 0121 476 9111 for more.
