AN ASPIRING young film-maker from Bromsgrove has created an informative video highlighting the hard work of the town’s firefighters.
George Watkins, a former pupil of South Bromsgrove School, filmed ‘A Day in the Life at Bromsgrove Fire Station’ which follows the daily challenges that come with the job, as well as dramatic training exercises and one-to-one interviews with the crew.
Reaching more than 650 views in two weeks on YouTube, the 19-year-old worked alongside friend Harry Preece to create the video in a bid to engage with the community as well as build up film-making experience.
George said: “We wanted to show the work of the fire service and make people aware they are not just waiting around for the bell to go off.
“They also do fire safety checks, make sure industrial building are safe, engage with the public about fire safety and make sure people check their fire alarms are working.
The film-maker has already made videos on the Severn Area Rescue Society, West Mercia Search and Rescue and also directed Death at Christmas, a festive murder mystery which was premiered at Artrix in November.
“We thought the video would be mutually beneficial, I would get some experience whilst getting across their message and showing the firefighters’ perspective,” he added.
“The crew were really excited to get involved and wanted to help me get some great footage.”
