AN ARMY officer from Bromsgrove parachuted onto a Normandy beach earlier today as part of a special parade to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Landings.

Major Gareth Evans from the 2nd Para regiment, who went to Bromsgrove School, was one of 500 British troops landing  close to Pegasus Bridge which was an intrinsic part of the operation.
