UPDATE - Wild fire on land off Staple Flat, Marlbrook, Bromsgrove, now under control

THE WILD fire which broke out earlier and tore across land off Staple Flat,  Marlbrook, Bromsgrove, has now been brought under control by the fire service.

Thankfully, there were no casualties and all the residents who had to be evacuated have now returned to their properties.

Firefighters will remain at the scene to make sure the area is safe and check for hotspots to ensure the blaze does not reignite.

Bromsgrove Police thanked everyone in the area for their patience while the incident was being dealt with.

What happened?

We reported earlier how a fire had broken out on land off Staple Flat in Marlbrook, Bromsgrove. It raged out of control, sending smoke billowing across the surrounding area.

Such was the severity that Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service declared a major incident and deployed engines, crews and other resources to the scene.

Some residents had to be evacuated from their homes for safety reasons.

Firefighters worked hard to bring the flames under control as the smoke could be seen billowing into the air which can be seen for miles.


People living in Catshill and the surrounding areas were urged to keep their doors and windows shut.

West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended.

As the blaze was being tackled, Staple Flat Road is was closed between Old Birmingham Road and Linehouse Lane.

Those roads have since reopened.
