MORE THAN 6,000 homes were left without electricity, following a power cut.

Among the areas affected were Bromsgrove, Rubery, Rednal, Frankley and other areas in south Birmingham around 9.45pm on Tuesday (October 15).

More than 4,400 homes in the B45 area are impacted and 1,771 in the B60 and B61 postcodes.

The incident was classed as ‘High Voltage’ which means it is affecting a large number of properties spread over a wide area.

The majority of homes were back on by 1pm but there are still 1,771 homes in the B61 area left without electricity.

That should be resolved by 3am on Wednesday (October 16)

National Grid had engineers on the scene and has apologised for the loss.

In a statement, National Grid said: “We are aware of this power cut outage which was raised at 9.46pm tonight and our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you.”
