HEARTBROKEN family members of a man who was killed in Rednal have paid tribute to their ‘loving son, father, brother and nephew’.
Lee Baker was killed after being struck by a car on Ormscliffe Road, Rednal, just before 5.10pm on Monday (July 21). Lee, aged 28, sustained serious injuries and sadly died later in hospital.
His devastated family released a tribute to him on Wednesday (July 23). They said: “He was everything to us and will be sadly missed. He was loved by everyone.”
Following Lee’s death, two men, both aged 28, were arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of murder. West Midlands Police has been given additional time to question them.
A third man, aged 29, has also been arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of murder.
Since the family’s tribute has been shared by police on social media, over 150 comments have flooded in with the community offering their condolences.
Comments described being ‘shocked’, devastated’, ‘sad’ and ‘heartbroken’. Many who knew Lee also commented, with some sharing ‘cherished memories’.
Other comments described Lee as ‘loveable’, ‘amazing’, and ‘the life of the party’. The post was shared over 160 times and has well over 770 likes.
A fundraising page has also been set up by Lee’s family to help give him the funeral he ‘deserves’. Costs will also provide support for the family and Lee’s eight-year-old child. At the time we went to press, £680 had been donated towards a goal of £3,500.
On the fundraising page, Lee’s family wrote: “No family should have ever had to experience this in the way they have, to plan a funeral while also trying to find a way to grieve.
“He cared so much for his family and did everything he could to protect them.
“If you are able to donate, any amount will help. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
The force are now appealing for anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV footage which can assist with the investigation into Lee’s death.
