TRIBUTES have been paid to a former Bromsgrove District Councillor who died on August 22.

Jean Hancox was a councillor for the Sidemoor Ward from 1999 to 2003 and her husband David Hancox also served for the authority and was council chairman from 2002 to 2003. He passed away in 2015.

The pair, who lived in Rubery and were married for more than 60 years, had a son, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Former councillor and council leader Dennis Norton said: “Jean was a first class councillor and was very supportive of me when I was leader and of the council and the museum.

“She was quite quiet and got on with the job – she was not one to shout about her accomplishments.”

Mrs Hancox’s funeral is at 2pm on Thursday, September 9, at Redditch Crematorium with a get-together afterwards at Bromsgrove Golf Centre.
