AN UPGRADE to the traffic signals at the junction of Market Street and The Strand, near Parkside, in Bromsgrove town centre will begin on Monday, July 4.
The works are being carried out by Worcestershire County Council and are expected to be completed by early September.
The new signals will measure and react to the traffic levels at the junction using sensors in the road, providing a more efficient use of the junction, reducing delays for drivers as there will be less traffic build-up.
Coun Mike Rouse, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways and Transport, said: “The upgrade of existing traffic signals to MOVA intelligent signals is a much needed improvement as I know many people use this junction to travel through Bromsgrove.”
He added it was an ‘innovative common sense solution’ as part of the council’s commitment to improving journey times and traffic flow.
Lane closures will be in place initially, followed by temporary traffic signals.
Most of the work is planned, where possible, to take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm to avoid peak traffic times.
