‘TORN From Home’ is the theme for this year’s Bromsgrove Holocaust Memorial Day Service.

The ceremony, at 11am on January 28, at Parkside, will encourage people to reflect on how the enforced loss of a safe place to call ‘home’ is a big part of the trauma faced by victims of persecution and genocide.

There will be children from 13 schools across the district taking part in the event, including South Bromsgrove High School’s choir.

Bromsgrove District Council Chairman Coun Caroline Spencer said: “Home is definitely where the heart is and to think that you may never be able to go home again is catastrophic.

“This day is a time to reflect on the atrocities which have, and still are happening and how, by coming together, we can work towards making these a thing of the past.”

All are welcome to the event and refreshments will be served after the service which is expected to last around 30 minutes.
