Thomas Horton's Tina putting herself to the test for defib campaign

A CAMPAIGN has been launched to raise £1,000 for a community defibrillator to be based at Thoman Horton Solicitors in Bromsgrove.

The drive is the brainchild of solicitor Tina Curtis from the practice who was inspired when she recently went on a first aid refresher course.

She discovered if CPR was carried out on a cardiac arrest patient there was only a five per cent survival rate but if it was followed up with defibrillator that number increased to between 74 and 80 per cent.

Tina has set herself a target of running 750km this year, the equivalent of three half-marathons per month.

She ran an impressive 116km throughout January and has completed around 70km in February towards the final target.

Her first organised run is the Stratford-upon-Avon Half-Marathon on April 26.

After trying her hand at running, Tina had a ‘slow’ start but has since competed in triathlons, the Birmingham Half-Marathon and the Wolf Run.

Once the cash is raised, the defib will be available 24/7 at the solicitors’ building on The Strand in Bromsgrove town centre.

A spokesperson for Thomas Horton Solicitors said: “We would welcome any sponsorship for this project however small and Tina has promised to keep people updated as to her progress.”
