BROMSGROVE author, Linda Mather, has released her latest crime novel which is inspired by her canalside contemplation in Stoke Prior.

The Perfect House For Murder, the sixth book in the Jo and Macy Murder Mystery series.

It centres on the discovery of a woman’s body in a serene and picturesque area where there are a neat row of cottages reflected in the still glossy water.

As the usually serene scene is shattered, private investigator and astrologer Jo is determined to find the truth about what happened.

Turning to her old boss Macy for advice, she takes on her first solo case.

As her investigation unravels, she finds herself doubting everyone as the list of suspects rapidly grows.

Linda was born in Wallasey, Cheshire but has lived in Bromsgrove for over 20 years and was interested in journalism during university.

In 2021 she left full-time work to pursue her career in writing with crime-fiction her chosen speciality.

The author realised early on that she had a flair for crime books with a hint of darkness and secrets to be discovered.

Linda said: “The idea for my latest book came to me in lockdown during my many canal walks.

“Everything looks so pretty and perfect that it seemed as if nothing bad could ever happen there – I saw that as a challenge.”

A sense of place in her writing is important to Linda, she likes to research the places she writes about by visiting them and getting a feel for the atmosphere to weave the details into her stories.

The Jo and Macy Mysteries series is set in the West Midlands and Cotswolds with titles including Forecast Murder, A Sign for Murder, Murder as Predicted, The Hanged Man and A Future Murder.

Recently, the author signed a contract for three police thriller books and is currently writing the first of this series (set in New Forest).

There are also plans for the seventh ‘Jo and Macy’ murder mystery book published by Joffe Books.

All of Linda Mather’s books can be purchased on Amazon.
