The coronation, Parliament and visits to Bromsgrove businesses - MP Sajid Javid's Westminster Diary

WITH MAY approaching, many of us will be preparing the coronation of King Charles III.

Like many of my constituents – and the readers of The Bromsgrove Standard – I look forward to celebrating this historic moment. I would encourage my constituents to attend the fantastic range of events that local people and businesses are organising to celebrate this special day.

Over the past few weeks, I have been continuing my work on online safety and in the war against child sexual abuse. This week I wrote an article in the Telegraph, calling for tougher sentences for offenders, following the shocking new figures of online child sexual abuse in a report by the Internet Watch Foundation. It is abundantly clear that more must be done to tackle this horrific crime, and we must do more to protect our children from online abuse.

Earlier in the month, I also welcomed the UK’s membership of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The Government has worked tirelessly to secure the UK’s membership of the CPTPP which will help to build deeper economic, diplomatic and security partnerships in this strategically important region.

Locally, I visited two brilliant local businesses here in Bromsgrove District – Bumble Hole Foods and the UKF Group. It was fantastic to see both of their facilities and discuss the Government’s commitment to support businesses across the country.

I also visited North Bromsgrove High School to discuss the great progress the school and its pupils are making following their Ofsted inspection earlier this year.

With the local elections around the corner, I thoroughly enjoyed campaigning with candidates in Avoncroft ward. It was a pleasure to engage with Avoncroft residents and discuss their local and national priorities. I would like to take this moment to remind my constituents that Voter ID will be needed to vote on May 4.

As always, if any of my constituents have any concerns or issues that they wish to contact me about, I can be reached at [email protected]
