Tenth Bromsgrove District Council EV charger installed - in Barnt Green

THE LATEST of 13 planned installments of EV chargers is now live on Fiery Hill Road in Barnt Green.

This is the tenth charger to be installed across the district and the first EV charging point in the village.

It is part of a Government-funded project by Bromsgrove District Council to make it easier for taxi drivers and other motorists to charge their electric vehicles.

It’s hoped the new chargers will also encourage more people to buy electric vehicles in the future, reducing the district’s carbon emissions.

The first charger was operational in May 2021 and since then the ten others have been used over 5,000 times, as well as dispensing with 90,000Kwh of renewable electricity.

The use of the chargers have also prevented 70 tonnes of carbon emissions from being released into the atmosphere.

Portfolio Holder for climate change at Bromsgrove District Council, Coun Michael Thompson said: “With fuel prices soaring, more people are being encouraged to make the move to an electric car and it’s becoming a much more viable option as more infrastructure is put in place.

I hope our residents, taxi drivers and the environment will continue to benefit from these new charging locations.”

Chairman of Barnt Green Parish Council, Robert Cholmondeley added the scheme was an important step in delivering new infrastructure for residents and commuters.
