Swim sessions for adults with chronic pain launch in Bromsgrove

Bromsgrove Editorial 22nd Sep, 2024   0

NEW SWIM sessions for adults living with pain management conditions are taking place at Bromsgrove Sport and Leisure Centre from midday to 1pm every Thursday.

The sessions are held in a warm water pool, making it more comfortable for people with mobility issues and chronic pain conditions, such as fibromyalgia.

Swimming is a low-impact exercise that alleviates pressure on the joints, and it can also help to improve range of motion and flexibility.

Warmer water helps to soothe and relax muscles too and the reduced capacity will create a calmer setting for people to enjoy the water.

Unlike standard swimming, space will not be restricted to lanes so participants will be able to move around the pool.

The centre, operated by Everyone Active in conjunction with Bromsgrove District Council, has created the sessions to help those managing musculoskeletal conditions stay active.
