MEMBERS of Bromsgrove Swimming Club had a very successful weekend at the Worcestershire County Championships.
A total of 22 swimmers took part in 87 individual race events hosted in Wolverhampton and Worcester.
Bromsgrove members were represented in 57 event finals, coming away with an impressive haul of 21 medals.
Emily, 11, won eight, including a clean sweep of golds in the 50m, 100m and 200m breastroke events.
Ethan, 10, took five medals and Sam won three, including gold in one of the toughest events – the 1,500m freestyle.
Among the other medallists were Elizabeth, 12, Sophia, 13, Oliver, 13 and Luke, 12.
Luke grabbed bronze and silver in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.
In what was a very competitive age group, Ava, 16, delivered personal best performances in all three butterfly events.
Where medals were not won, swimmers of all ages went away with personal bests – 58 in total across the team.
Newly appointed head coach Jacob Elliott was thrilled with the results.
He said: “I am extremely proud of the achievements of all our swimmers at the club.
“The results achieved at this year’s championships are testament to the hard work competitors, coaches and parents have put in to training throughout the year.
“It is a huge commitment to train and compete for the club almost seven days-a-week.”
A number of swimmers now have their sights set now on competing in the
West Midlands Regional Championships later this spring.
