A STUNNING fire engine which served Bromsgrove between 1935 and 1960 has been full restored to its former glory.

It was purposely built for Bromsgrove Urban District Council before later being used by Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

Now, in its original condition, it is on show at a motor museum in Norfolk.

Local resident Mark Ingram, who spotted the engine at Lytham 1940s weekend, said: “It must go to several events up and down the country each year.

“It would be nice to have it on display in Bromsgrove as it served the town for well over 25 years.

“Wythall Transport Museum did some research for me and discovered it has been with its current owner since 2017.”

Mr Ingram added there was also some suggestion it was used to tackle fires during the Coventry Blitz.

Coun Caroline Spencer has contacted the district about getting it up to Bromsgrove.

“I would love to see it displayed in the high street one Saturday afternoon.

“The children in this town would especially love it.”

She said her neighbour was a firefighter during those years but did not remember serving on that particular fire engine.
