Strike disruption for Bromsgrove rail users

Bromsgrove Editorial 22nd Aug, 2023 Updated: 22nd Aug, 2023   0

BROMSGROVE rail users are facing disruption after more strike dates were confirmed.

Members of the RMT union have announced strike action on Saturday, August 26 and September 2.

The ASLEF union has announced its members will be taking further action on Friday, September 1 and action short of a strike on Saturday, September 2.

As a result, there will be no trains running on the Birmingham New Street to Hereford line via Bromsgrove, Droitwich Spa, Worcester Foregate Street, Malvern Link and Great Malvern.

There will be one train per hour between Lichfield City and Bromsdgrove on August 26.

The following Saturday there will be two trains an hour between Lichfield City and Birmingham New Street, with buses running between Birmingham New Street and Bromsgrove.

A limited timetable will be used on other services between 7am and 7pm on both these days.

And there will be no West Midlands Railway (WMR) services at all on September 1.

Jonny Wiseman, WMR customer experience director, said: “It is disappointing that our customers’ journeys are again being impacted by this industrial action.

“I urge any passengers planning to travel on the upcoming strike days to check their journeys carefully and consider travelling on an alternative date if possible.

“Anyone holding a ticket for travel on a strike day can use their ticket on a different day or claim a full refund.”
