Stoke Prior's 'Calendar Girls' raises over £17,000

Bromsgrove Editorial 5th Dec, 2022   0

A GROUP of villagers from Stoke Prior have raised more than £17,000 for the Primrose Hospice after baring all in a charity calendar.

We reported back in September about the friends getting together to show support for their friend Kim Chandler who has terminal cancer.

Kim regularly attends the Primrose Hospice ‘Gals Group’ where attendees speak about the get-togethers and how they have a positive impact on their lives.

After lockdown the group was left without a budget and were in badly need of funding so the group of friends from The Boat and Railway decided to create the Calendar Girls style calendar.

The pictures were taken by Julie King Photography and Darren Shipman from Dpix who are regulars in the pub, committee members and Bromsgrove photographers.

Darren told the Standard: “Jo Wright was delighted to receive the cheque, The Gals group are so excited to have received this amount of money from such a small village.

“They have big plans on how to spend it starting with a trip already planned to visit the theatre on December 29.

“We would like to thank everyone involved including the sponsors for the calendar.”

There are still some calendars left – available from Stoke Prior Store/ Post Office, The Butcheress, The Boat and Railway and Capelli.

Alternatively message the team through at facebook.com/stokepriorcalendar or email Tracey at [email protected] to buy one.

The cash raised was through donations and sales.
