A BROMSGROVE charity is hosting a free event to give the public an insight into the challenges and rewards of life as a firefighter.

The Basement Project is inviting young people aged 16 to 25 who are interested in learning about career options to see what a Day in the Life of a firefighter is really like.

The event is part of the charity’s monthly series of ‘A Day in the Life’ events. It will take place from 12pm to 2pm on Wednesday, May 22 at the charity’s offices on Hanover Street in Bromsgrove.

Guest speaker Joanne Evenson, from Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service, will share first-hand experiences and provide an engaging narrative about her career as a firefighter.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the challenges, rewards, and responsibilities associated with this vital profession.

This initiative is part of The Basement Project’s ‘Application Station’ service, which aims to empower young individuals by offering them exposure to various career paths.

By organising monthly events like these, the charity hopes to provide valuable information that can assist young people in making informed decisions about their future employment.

Anna Duffy, application station coordinator at The Basement Project said: “We are thrilled to host ‘A Day in the Life of a Firefighter’ as part of our series.

“This event not only sheds light on the firefighting profession but also inspires young minds to explore diverse career options.”

The 2-hour events include lunch, which is served following the Q&A session, allowing attendees the opportunity to chat more informally with the guest speaker.

Attendance to the event is free, but registration is required due to limited seating. To register email Anna at [email protected] or call 01527 832993.
