A SPECIALIST menopause treatment centre in Bromsgrove has been rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in its latest inspection.

VHK Women’s Health Clinic provides consultations, treatment and advice on menopause symptoms and received the highest possible grading in its first inspection since registering.

The private clinic on Stourbridge Road, Bromsgrove was rated outstanding overall, with the same grading for effectiveness and leadership. It was also rated good for being safe, caring and responsive.

CQC’s deputy director of operations in the Midlands, Craig Howarth, described the service as a place where ‘managers and staff went the extra mile’ and ‘patients received the best possible care.’

He also highlighted the care provider as offering a ‘bespoke service tailored to people’s needs’, with a ‘proactive and positive culture of safety based on openness and honesty.’

Staff were also praised for ‘understanding their responsibility to safeguard patients’ whilst treating them with ‘kindness’ and ‘compassion’, leading them to feel ‘valued and respected’ through both ‘physical and emotional support’ from doctors.

Craig Howarth added: “All staff should be extremely proud of the care they’re providing to people using the service.

“They clearly work hard to provide exceptional care, and other providers should look at this report to see if there’s anything they can learn.”

Overall, inspectors found a clean and well maintained service with properly trained and caring staff who managed prescriptions safely and took a targeted and proactive approach to health and treatment.

The clinic was founded by Dr Victoria Hobbs and Dr Heidi Kerr – two practising NHS GPs with a specialist interest in women’s health.
