A SPECIAL ceremony will be held this afternoon at Bromsgrove’s St John’s Church to officially close the town’s branch of the Royal Air Force Association (RAFA).
The RAFA standard – which has been prominent at Remembrance Sunday parades and other commemorations since 1947 – will be laid at 4pm.
The branch’s wreath will also be laid for a final time.
It also led the special parade in May to mark the creation of a blue plaque to honour Bromsgrove’s Dambuster hero Flt Lt William Townsend on the 80th anniversary of the daring raids.
Bromsgrove RAFA has been forced to close because of a fall in member numbers.
Everyone is welcome to this afternoon’s event at St John’s which has been organised by the Bromsgrove Royal British Legion (RBL).
