STUDENTS at South Bromsgrove High School are today celebrating an exceptional set of A Level and Level 3 BTEC results, with 67% of results at being awarded at A*-B and 90% of results at A*-C.

Notable individual results included Lauren Thompson and Henry Livings who were both awarded A*A*A*.

Henry has secured a place at Oxford to read Mathematics and Lauren at UCL to read English.

Seven students achieved A*A*A, and twelve students A*AA.

Isabella Evans was awarded a D*D*D* (triple distinction star) for her BTEC Health and Social Care and is going on to study Mental Heath Nursing at Birmingham City University.

Headteacher Chris Smith said: “Against a national backdrop of falling grades this year, we are delighted to see students return a phenomenal set of results.

“This cohort has met unprecedented challenges owing to covid, not least the absence of sitting GCSEs. The grades they have achieved reflects the hard work and resilience of students, and the staff who have taught them over the last two years.”

Director of Sixth Form, Nick Coates added “These are some of the best results I can remember and I am so proud of everything the students have achieved.

“Not only have they achieved excellent academic results, but they have led the whole school recovery in terms of extracurricular activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Eisteddfod, the school play, sport, and our Sixth Form teaching assistant programme.

“Our students leave us with more then just their academic qualifications and I wish them all the best for the future.”

Students at North Bromsgrove High School were celebrating success.

“Congratulations go to our Sixth Form students who have achieved a strong set of results this year”, said Headteacher, Nick Gibson.

“We are delighted with our students’ performance and it is a real credit to their hard work and diligence, who have been well supported by our committed staff.

“The progress that our students have achieved over the past two years, overcoming the various challenges posed by the pandemic, with a truly comprehensive intake of students is extremely impressive.”

Director of Sixth Form, Daniel Taylor, added: “I couldn’t be prouder of our students. The resilience and determination shown by each and every one of them throughout has been remarkable. Thanks also go to the tremendous efforts of staff and the unstinting support from parents.

“Amongst many outstanding results, several students excelled: brothers Adam and Alex Harris secured A*A*A and AAA respectively whilst Ben Harvey with A*AA, Hope Eades AAA, Leo Carrington-Crook AAA and Lois Roberts A*A*B all achieved outstanding grades.”

Many of the students have gained entry to top universities, pursuing courses such as Law, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science.
