STUDENTS from South Bromsgrove High School enjoyed the great outdoors and learned new angling skills after ‘hooking up’ with the police.
School staff and pupils River Sparham-Moore and Maddi Gill joined PCSO Jamie Sarkar at a coaching pool in Upton Warren to take part in some fishing.
The venue was kindly provided by Steve Wyton, CEO of Droitwich Angling Centre specifically for the session.
PCSO Sarkar said: “The idea behind the event was to reach out to pupils of South Bromsgrove High and break down barriers between youths and the police.
“It was also aimed at showing pupils other activities which enabled them to be outdoors and appreciate the wildlife and quite literally what lies beneath the surface.”
By the end of the session they had caught 30 fish.
Roddy Keenan, the school’s inclusion co-ordinator, said: “The girls absolutely loved the event and are very much looking forward to future sessions next term.”
