AN EXHIBITION of the South Birmingham Guild of Silk Painters is under way at Rubery Library and runs until July 24 as part of this year’s Bromsgrove Festival.
Members of the guild chose The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as the theme, showcasing a variety of her very distinctive hats and – with artistic licence – using embellished pieces of painted silk.
The group met occasionally via Zoom during the Covid restrictions and numbers dropped but recently five new members have been welcomed to the guild, enabling them to make plans for more workshops and topics.
The South Birmingham Guild is one of 11 branches throughout the country and always enjoys being able to assist with the Staffordshire branch when it has a stand on behalf of all the groups at the NEC.
The South Birmingham Guild meets at Beacon Church Centre in Whetty Lane, Rubery, once a month on a Tuesday afternoon.
