A BROMSGROVE building site manager has won a prestigious ‘Pride in the Job’ award for the second year in a row, writes Will Shepstone.

Bellway’s Whitford Heights development’s, 34-year-old Chris Bennett from Kingswinford, won a Quality Award in the National House Building Council’s annual competition.

A total of only 449 site mangers took the accolade with ten per cent of the winners working for Bellway.

Mr Bennett had already won the award the year prior for his work at Bellway’s Jubilee Green development in Coventry, seeing him once again selected from a pool of over 8,000 managers, whose sites had been inspected by the NHBC over the past year.

As a Quality Award winner, Chris prepares himself for the next stage of the competition- the NHBC’s Seal of Excellence and regional awards, which will be announced later in the year.

The NHBC ensures each site manager is judged on a wide range of aspects of their work, including attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise as well as health and safety.

Mr Bennet said: “I’d like to express my thanks to my assistant site manager David Talbot and the team around us for the hard work they have put in to achieve this award.

“I always want to perform the best I can and would like to push for a Seal of Excellence and achieve a regional award soon.”

Nick Edmond, Bellway West Midlands’ Construction Director said: “The Pride in the Job Quality Awards are rightly held in high regard nationally as everyone in the industry knows just how hard it is to win this accolade.”
