A SHORT service was held at the Bromsgrove war monument this morning to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Landings.
A small group gathered for the ceremony which was led by Rev Ray Khan and included the playing of the Last Post and a two-minute silence.
A small bunch of poppies was laid by 87-year-old veteran Donald Warman.
He said afterwards: “I was thinking of my brother who lost his leg on Sword Beach.
“The service was very moving.”

Rev Khan added: “We have a bigger service at St Godwald’s Church on Sunday but I thought it was important to do something on the actual day.”
We broadcast the service live on our Bromsgrove Standard Facebook page.
The service at St Godwald’s Church will be at 10.30am on Sunday.
The venue has been specially chosen as it has a sculpture on the wall depicting a D-Day scene.
