A Tribute to The Queen by Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid

HER Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II lived an extraordinary life of service.

The outpouring of emotion across the world – including the touching tributes sent to me from constituents – reflect the deep affection and love, in which she was held.

For over seven decades, she was a source of strength and comfort – a representative of our closest held values and beliefs, a defender of faith, and an embodiment of the very best of public service and duty.

During her reign, the world has transformed. Yet Her Late Majesty remained a constant – a source of reassurance and comfort.

Her values – seen by some as old fashioned – have stood the test of time and are cherished across generations.

And her influence extended far beyond these shores, including in the Commonwealth, which she cared for so deeply.

Alongside her strength and stay, His Late Royal Highness Prince Phillip, she travelled to the furthest corners of the world.

Closer to home, it has been heart-warming to see newspaper pieces circulated of her previous visits to Bromsgrove district – including in 2001 and 1957 on her royal tour of the West Midlands.

As millions of people visit London in the coming days, they will see the gates of Buckingham Palace – constructed in Bromsgrove – which were a fixture of her daily life during her reign.

It has been my immense privilege to represent my constituency in Parliament in formal events to commemorate her life.

As she Lies in State in Westminster Hall, I will be paying my respects on behalf of Bromsgrove District residents.

As a new era begins, let us count the blessings of having shared our lives with hers.

May she rest in peace and God Save the King.
