Serious M5 crash leaves 18-year-old in hospital in a critical condition

A SERIOUS crash on the M5 earlier today left an 18-year-old seriously injured and in a critical condition in hospital.

The collision, involving a black VW Caddy happened on the northbound carriageway near Junction 2 at 5.50am.

Police now want anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who has dash cam footage to get in touch.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the doctor travelled with the patient to help continue treatment en route to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth hospital.




The driver and another passenger suffered minor injuries.

The 20-year-old motorist was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.


He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Another car was forced to take evasive action but was clipped by the VW Caddy. The driver was not injured.
