A COMMUNITY-LED project supporting special educational needs children (SEN) and their families across Bromsgrove has secured access to vital facilities to aid its work.
The Access Project from the Nigel Prosser Foundation, which aims to counter the growing need for inclusive support for families and SEN children, has earned itself access to leisure facilities in Bromsgrove.
It will be able to carry out its work at Everyone Active’s Bromsgrove Sport and Leisure Centre thanks to the gym operator’s Community Champions scheme.
Michelle De-Torre, founder of The Nigel Prosser Foundation, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been accepted.
“We want to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to the team for their support, it really means so much to us. This will make such a difference and we are so excited to get started on our projects with them.
“Thanks to their generosity, we will be able to give children the opportunities, support, and experiences they deserve.
“It’s moments like this that remind us just how wonderful our local community is, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact this will have on the families we work with every day.”
Everyone Active’s Community Champions scheme supports projects which are tackling local issues and changing lives. People involved in mentoring, promoting health and wellbeing, supporting inclusivity or leading environmental or cultural projects were encouraged to apply.
Benjamin Betteridge, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “We are hugely excited to support The Access Project, which we hope will make a real difference in Bromsgrove.
“The Access Project is the perfect fit for us and we are delighted to welcome them into the Community Champions fold.”
The project is also eligible to be shortlisted for the annual Everyone Active Champions Awards.
Portfolio holder for leisure, councillor Bernard McEldowney, said: “I want to personally congratulate The Access Project for its successful application and I wish them well.
“It is great to know our local community is bursting with many other champions who strive to make our district a much better place for our residents, often using their own time and resources to do so.”
