Search for a Star semis set to get under way at the Austin Sports and Social Club

THE LAST places in the Search for a Star competition at the Austin Sports and Social Club have now been filled and the semi-finals will get under way on Saturday, March 9.

Singers Ally Bennett from Cheltenham, Hayley Jones from Redditch and Skye Hadley from Bromsgrove all made it safely through on Saturday.

Ally sang Hold On, Shout and Right Back Where We Started while Hayley’s renditions included Lay Me Down, Ain’t No Sunshine and Mustang Sally.

Skye performed Son of a Preacher Man, Valerie and Rise Up.

The Saturday before saw Lee Anderson from Essex, Louise from Quinton and Daren Sanders from West Heath all get through.

The semi-finals take place over the next three Saturdays.

The winner of the competition will scoop £2,000, the runner-up £1,000, the third place £500 and fourth £250. All the finalists will each get £100 and semi-finalists £50.

The next show will be tonight at 8pm. Tickets are £4 on the door.
