A BROMSGROVE school’s choir welcomed guests to a special Remembrance Service at Worcester’s County Hall this morning (Friday, November 10).

South Bromsgrove High School choir sang Bring Him Home as guests were welcomed prior to the service.

The Service was hosted by County Council Chairman, Councillor Kyle Daisley, giving staff and Councillors the opportunity to join others honouring the fallen and those in conflict.

Over 20 veterans were honoured during the Service including The Royal British Legion County Chairman, Alan Humphries, alongside five Standard Bearers and a Bugler.

Coun Kyle Daisley said: “It was wonderful to see so many staff and guests gathered this morning for the Remembrance Service at County Hall.

“The event was very moving and I am extremely grateful to everyone who took part – it was especially wonderful to host pupils and staff from two of our county’s schools.

“Giving young people a voice and bringing communities together is a very personal goal for me and something I believe we are continually achieving.”

Children from Perryfields PRU, who are currently working on a Remembrance project, were also in attendance.

One of their students took part in the Service with a Bible reading from Romans: More Than Conquerors.

The pupils presented the Chairman with a poppy wreath after the Service that they had made especially for the occasion.

Peter Hines, headteacher at Perryfields Primary PRU, said: “The pupils and staff at Perryfields Primary PRU were delighted to be asked by Councillor Daisley to attend and contribute to the County Hall Remembrance service.

“All of the Perryfields pupils visited The National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire last month, and are currently studying World War 1 and reading ‘War Horse’ by Michael Morpurgo.“
