MANAGERS of a business centre and self-storage company based in Rubery, Evesham and Leamington have taken on a 27 mile sponsored walk to raise thousands for charity.

The Squab Storage managers, Kelsey Carter, from the Evesham branch, Andrew Kay, from the Leamington branch, and Rob Sharp, from the Rubery branch have together raised £2,666 for the charity Maggie’s.

The Squab walking team, journeyed from the comapny’s Evesham branch to it’s Leamington branch to raise funds in aid of Maggie’s work supporting individuals and families fighting cancer.

The charity event, received funding boosts from sponsors including Active CCTV & Surveillance Ltd, Keepers Cottage On-line Auctions and Paperock Creative.

And the coffers were boosted by a raffle held at the Leamington site, with a prize of afternoon tea for two donated by neighbouring Mallory Court Hotel.

Following the managers’ triumphant walk, the charity day was rounded off with a celebratory barbecue.

Kelsey said: “We’re extremely pleased to raise so much for Maggie’s – a charity which provides an incredible amount of support to families fighting cancer.

“We set off at around 5am and had planned for rain, but it was actually a really hot, sunny day which provided us with an extra challenge as we didn’t have much shade along the route.

“We don’t get much chance to catch up, so it was fantastic for us to all get together as a management team and chat about everything taking place at our Squab sites.

“With blistered feet and exhausted from the heat, I actually dropped out at 21 miles and was replaced by substitute Andrea Finn, from the Leamington site, and the three finished the challenge at around 5.30pm after plenty of water breaks!

“We received a fantastic welcome in Leamington from our teams and enjoyed a lovely barbecue together.

We’d like to thank everyone who sponsored us.”
