Rubery Social Club function room to be demolished to make way for up to 20 new apartments

Bromsgrove Editorial 2nd Nov, 2020   0

THE function room at the rear of Rubery Social Club will be demolished to make way for up to 20 new apartments with associated infrastructure.

Bromsgrove planners unanimously backed the proposals at a virtual meeting last month.

Sixteen parking spaces will remain for members of the New Road club and 20 will be made available for new residents.

Two oak trees on the site will be protected throughout all phases of the development.

A council document published ahead of the meeting said: “The need for affordable units has been recognised at the outset.

“There is nothing of similar tenure in Rubery and I think this would be a welcome addition to the affordable housing being delivered in this specific area.”
