Rubery residents to express their love for the village with decorated Valentine's hearts

Bromsgrove Editorial 31st Jan, 2018   0

RUBERY residents will have the chance to express their love for the village by decorating hearts and displaying them in time for Valentine’s Day.

The newly formed Rubery Village Association (RVA) is inviting volunteers to collect wooden hearts from Rubery Library, decorate them and show them off in the windows of their homes and shops.

For residents who live outside the village centre they can return the decorated hearts, with their name and contact details on the back, to the library before February 9. The RVA will then be displaying the hearts in prominent places across the village until February 19.

RVA chair Ian Robinson said: “The Rubery Village Business Association recently opened itself up to other groups and organisations, therefore becoming the Rubery Village Association.

“This project celebrates that change and we hope it gives everyone the chance to celebrate Rubery too.”

Residents who can photograph the most hearts and upload them to Facebook or Twitter using #LoveRubery will win a meal for two (or equivalent) at Rafter’s.

There will also be a small chocolate thank you for anyone who makes a heart and a prize for the best decorated.

Email [email protected] or call the group secretary Rev Claire Turner on 0121 238 3168 for more information.
