A Rubery man has been given a community order for assaulting his ex-partner and assaulting and grabbing a taser off a police officer.
Gavin Hamilton, 52, of Brook Road, Rubery pleaded guilty to the charges, as well as criminal damage and breaching his court bail during the incident on September 8.
Hamilton had previously been arrested for refusing to allow his partner to leave a premises and threatening her for calling police previously.
When police attended on September 8, the victim let the officers in to the premises.
However, upon being arrested, Hamilton assaulted a police officer, breaking his body worn video camera, and grabbing a hold of his taser.
He subsequently made threats to ‘taser’ the officer.
Hamilton was charged and sentenced to a community order when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on September 29.
He was ordered to attend an alcohol dependency course.

“Officers come to work to protect the public and keep them safe.
“They do not expect to be assaulted, and when they are we will do everything in our power to investigate, prosecute and convict those responsible.”
