Rubery dementia patient fulfills her dream of pulling a pint

A RUBERY care home has fulfilled the dream of one of its residents, helping organise a chance for her to pull a pint of beer in the local pub.

Iris, from The Oaks Care Home on Rubery Lane, was invited down to the nearby Dingle Social Club to satisfy her wish of pulling a draught pint.

On Iris’ big day, her and her fellow residents enjoyed a pint with the locals and reminisced on positive memories.

The visits to the social club are always carefully planned and supervised by specialist dementia care staff, who recognise the importance of maintaining a fulfilling and stimulating environment for their patients.

An Oaks Care Home spokesperson said: “The Oaks is committed to continually exploring innovative approaches to dementia care that prioritise the individual needs and preferences of the people who live at the home.

“By organising trips like this and making resident wishes come true, we aim to set new standards in dementia care and positively impact the lives of those living with the Dementia.”
