COUNCILLORS in Rubery are celebrating another revamp of a local park after a site on Brook Road has seen some much needed investment.

Brook Road Park is the latest to receive new gym equipment thanks to Bromsgrove District Council plans to invest in outdoor facilities across the district.

Councillors, Peter McDonald and Esther Gray, were delighted to see the investment in their local area.

Coun McDonald who represents Rubery North said: “I am really delighted to see further investment in the park after the update of the old BMX Track.

“The great advantage of outside gyms is that they are free to use and a fun and effective way to stay active safely, improve physical and mental health, foster community engagement, and offer a more natural and enjoyable workout experience.”

The pair are determined to continue their campaign for further investment in both parks in Rubery after old equipment was replaced at neighbouring St Chad’s Park in April.

Through Bromsgrove District Council’s commitments to improve parks and open spaces across the region, the councillors have been able to utilise revenue streams available to them to help fund the equipment.

The council committed to funding improvements at its play facilities in February’s budget, with a plan released in December 2024 budgeting for a £2 million spend but over the next 10 years.
