Rubery care home held their own special Remembrance service

A RUBERY care home held a special service of remembrance for those who lost their lives in conflict last Friday (November 10).

Ahead of people gathering at Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday parades around the country, The Oaks Care Home held their own service – led by Reverend Jane.

The service included a wreath-laying ceremony, readings of poems and prayers, and a 2 minutes silence to remember the fallen.

Many of the residents in The Oaks Care Home have their own personal stories and connections to military service, which made this event particularly meaningful for them.

The service aimed to create a meaningful and reflective atmosphere for residents, who feel the importance of honouring those who made sacrifices.

Lianne Sturmey, home manager at The Oaks said: “We are proud to organise this event to honour and remember the bravery and sacrifices of our veterans.

“It is essential to create a space for reflection and gratitude, and we look forward to bringing our community together for this meaningful occasion.”
