A RUBERY boy has been praised for his brave and quick-thinking actions when he was out with his nan and she had a bad accident.

Jacob, who is eight and attends Beaconside Primary School, was with 71-year-old Jean Ling who has mobility issues.

As they were getting into her adapted car last Tuesday to go out and get some food, she fell backwards from where her scooter was stored onto the driveway.

She had badly split her head open and was left dazed by the incident.

Although Jacob was scared, he comforted his nanny and, seeing a lot of blood, went to get help from two Birmingham City Council workers.

He then ran to his nan’s neighbour’s house to call an ambulance.

The kind workers helped reassure Jean and gave Jacob £5 for his actions.

Where they were working, they would not have been able to see or hear what happened and would have been unaware of the situation had Jacob not alerted them.

Jean’s daughter and Jacob’s mum Amanda Faulkner took her to the hospital where she was treated for her badly cut head and a bruised hip, back and neck.

Amanda said: “I am just so proud of him and what he did.

“He has been diagnosed with autism and ADHD – I can’t believe how calm and level-headed he was in such a stressful situation.

“The lump on her head was massive and she was unable to get up.

“One of her neighbours had to hold her up in a sitting position to stop the bleeding.

“I don’t know what would have happened if Jacob had not been there or how long she would have been left there before somebody found her.”

Jean is now on the mend thanks to Jacob’s actions.

Amanda added: “Jacob has had trouble sleeping and some flashbacks so we keep telling him how well he has done and what an absolute hero he is.”
