THIS WEEK’S road closures on the A38 in Bromsgrove have been announced by Worcestershire County Council.
The A38 will be shut in both directions from New Road to the Oakalls roundabout for overnight closures between Monday and next Friday, October 20 to 24.
In addition to that, there will also be weekend closures from next Friday to the following Monday (October 24 to 27).
All overnight closures will take place between 8pm and 6am the next morning – deliberately outside of ‘rush hour’ times.
Worcestershire County Council thanked drivers for their patience and added: “These closures are part of ongoing improvement works.”
They urged motorists intending to use the A38 during these times to plan their journeys in advance.
What is being done?
The need to improve the A38 corridor from Lydiate Ash (M5, Junction 4) to Hanbury Turn (junction with B4091 Hanbury Road) was identified in Worcestershire’s fourth Local Transport Plan
The council says the aim of the A38 improvements is to ensure the Bromsgrove area can be ‘open for business’ by supporting economic growth.
“The improvement schemes include a series of junction enhancements where delay and congestion are currently experienced or where conditions are predicted to deteriorate further without intervention.
“They also include a range of improvements to cycling and walking routes alongside and across the A38.”
