A ROAD is closed in Northfield due to a house fire.

Fourlands Road is currently shut from its junctions with Shenley Hill and Merritts Brook due to the blaze which broke out in a bungalow.

West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance are all currently in attendance.

It is unsure as to how the fire started and it is believed two people were led to safety.

They were checked by West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics at the scene.

Three fire engines – from Northfield, Woodgate Valley and Kings Norton Fire Stations – attend the scene. They found a fire on the first floor of a semi-detached dormer bungalow.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property to extinguish the fire.

West Midlands Fire Service has now launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.

There is a temporary road closure in place along Fourlands Road, but it is likely this will be removed soon.
