POLICE have launched an urgent appeal after a gun was stolen during a burglary in Hanbury.

The BRNO. 22 rifle was taken after thieves broke into the property on  Hanbury Road.

The raiders climbed up onto the roof and through a bedroom window just before 2pm last Wednesday (July 1).

Along with the gun, which had an estimated value of £500, the burglars also took two engagement rings costing around £1,400, a silver locket with a cross, a silver bracelet, a gold cross, a gold wedding ring and a pearl necklace worth about £200.

As well as this two gold chains were taken, along with six pairs on silver earrings, eight pairs of gold earrings and a telescope.

PC Paul Cound, from the Droitwich safer neighbourhood team, said they believed the incident was linked with another on the same road which happened around the same time.

He added the rifle had not been found but encouraged any walkers who might find it dumped somewhere, like in undergrowth nearby, to contact 101.

The other home was targeted sometime between 8.55am and 2pm.

Burglars smashed a sliding glass door to gain entry to the property before they escaped with a pair of gold cufflinks with check patter, a pair of gold pink mother of pearl cufflinks, a pair of gold cufflinks with circular watch faces and a pair of gold T Bar cufflinks – all of which were worth a combined £650.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111,
