BROMSGROVE MP Bradley Thomas has revealed his 2026 ‘Pub of the Year’ following a vote by the public.
The popular competition returned after its inaugural one last year. Licensees flocked to put forward their venues and, likewise, 1,060 local residents voted.
Mr Thomas stressed the importance of celebrating the contribution pubs made to Bromsgrove’s economy and to communities.
This year’s winner is the independent, family-owned pub and restaurant, The Gate in Bournheath.

Finishing in second place is Bremi’s in Aston Fields (pictured above) and The Neighbourhood in Rubery came third (pictured below).

Mr Thomas said passed on his huge congratulations to The Gate.
“It’s fantastic the top three are all independent businesses – something we can all celebrate.
“A big thank you to all the pubs that took part and to everyone who voted and supported their local.
“We must keep continuing to support our pubs and hospitality businesses.”
He added it remained a challenging time for hospitality venues which were under more pressure than ever before.
“The Government’s latest U-turn fails to come anywhere near confronting the scale of the challenge facing pubs and the entire hospitality sector.”
’50 years of The Gate’
The Gate is owned by Gareth and Lucy Lloyd and is managed by Jon, Rachael and Sarah.
As well as celebrating their win, the pub will also be raising a glass to mark its 50th anniversary this year.
Gareth said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be named Bromsgrove and the Villages’ Pub of the Year 2026, especially as we celebrate our milestone 50th anniversary.
“As an independent, family-owned pub and restaurant, this recognition means a great deal to us.
“The Gate has been at the heart of the community since 1976, when Chris and Jan Lloyd first took it on, and we’re incredibly proud to continue that legacy today.
“As the next generation, we’re committed to keeping that same welcoming spirit alive – alongside great food, well-kept drinks, and a place people genuinely enjoy spending time in.
“The recent completion of our new restaurant has been an exciting step forward for us, allowing us to build on what we offer while staying true to who we are – all made possible by our fantastic team.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who voted for us – this award really belongs to the whole community that has supported us over the last 50 years.”
