Revamped Community Health Hub at Northfield's Royal Orthopaedic Hospital will treat extra 50 patients per day

THE ROYAL Orthopaedic Hospital (ROH) in Northfield has officially opened its revamped Community Health Hub in Griffins Brook Lane, providing more space for outpatients to access services in the community.

The hub is a dedicated clinic for Musculoskeletal (MSK) patients, providing more capacity for staff and the ability to treat up to an extra 50 patients per working day.

The new location is easier for patients in the community to access, with free on-site parking for patients, accessible entrance, and still just a 10-minute walk away from the main ROH hospital site.

Nikki Mason, ROH’s Head of Therapy Services, said everyone was very excited about the new hub’s opening.

“We hope this will be less daunting for patients who don’t want to visit the main hospital, and more clinic rooms mean we’ll be able to see more patients.”

The ROH’s MSK programme aims to provide a single point of quick access for patients needing assessment and management of musculoskeletal problems.

The Community Health Hub has opened at a time when NHS providers in Birmingham are working collaboratively to transform the way MSK services are delivered to patients.

Digital schemes being introduced support MSK staff and link services with wider public health programmes.

Office space at the ROH Community Health Hub also gives additional room for patient calls and will help the MSK administration team clear the Covid-19 pandemic backlog quicker.

And the hub will support trainee advanced practice physiotherapists and new employees in the MSK service.

As part of the modernisation, furniture has been recycled and LED lighting has been installed in line with the Greener NHS plan to help deliver a Net Zero NHS.
