Bromsgrove residents who are self-isolating can still vote by proxy on May 6

RESIDENTS who need to self-isolate because of Covid-19 will still be able to vote in the upcoming local and county elections on May 6.

Anyone who is self-isolating and can’t attend a polling station can access an emergency proxy vote. The deadline for this is 5pm on polling day.

Abraham Ezekiel, assistant director of legal and governance, said: “I’d like to thank Worcestershire County Council and district council staff who are working together to make sure all aspects of this year’s elections take place in a secure way.

“This will certainly be a different polling day then what we’ve become accustomed to.

“Local elections are taking place during the global pandemic and we’re keen for everyone to be able to have their say. If you’re self-isolating on polling day, please contact your local district council election officer to take your next steps.”

A proxy vote allows an individual to appoint another person to vote on their behalf, either at a polling station or by post.
