MAGICAL Christmas choral concerts will be performed at Bromsgrove’s St John’s Church by world class choir Ex Cathedra.
The Birmingham group will take centre stage for two hour-long performances at the venue at 4.30pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday, December 15.
The choir was due to play at Coventry Cathedral, Leicester and Wolverhampton but those areas are in Tier 3 so had to be cancelled.
Artistic director Jeffrey said: “We are delighted to return to St John’s Church after a gap of several years.
“These concerts feel particularly precious this year.
“We can’t wait to welcome people to celebrate Christmas at these magical, socially-distanced performances.
“Audience safety is our first priority this year, but we’re still able to include all the crucial ingredients that make them such popular, atmospheric concerts.
“You’ll hear a selection of seasonal favourites, and perhaps discover a few new ones, with a sprinkling of little-known gems and stunning new works.
“We’ll explore the meaning, humour and wonder of Christmas.”
Ex Cathedra and the church have worked closely to ensure the concerts can take place in a Covid-secure manner.
The Christmas Music by Candlelight concerts will be performed by 10 singers who will each be spaced from each other and the audience.
Audiences are required to buy a fixed group of seats for their household or bubble, and each group will be distanced.
The concert will last around an hour without an interval, and audiences will be given staggered arrival times.
Audience distancing means the availability of tickets, which have to be booked in advance, is very limited so people are advised to book quickly.
Tickets for the shows. at £13, are on sale now.
