LONGBRIDGE Lane reopened again today after almost ten weeks.
The busy road, outside Longbridge Railway Station, for commuters and other drivers on school runs was shut back in August for emergency maintenance works by Severn Trent.
Severn Trent initially said the road would shut for six to eight weeks to repair a burst water pipe.
But last month, the water provider admitted the works were more complex than first thought, adding they would take an extra fortnight.
Severn Trent bosses apologised for the delays and said it was ensuring its team was working as quickly as possible.
Then today, more than 60 days after the initial closure, all the barriers and bollards were removed.
Posting on Facebook, Northfield MP Gary Sambrook, whose constituency covers Longbridge, said: “Longbridge Lane is open again.
“Work will continue on the bus lane for the coming weeks but it is finally open for traffic which will come as a relief to everyone.”
