REASIDE Academy in Frankley has been referred to as a ‘friendly and welcoming school where pupils feel happy and safe’ following its retention of a ‘good’ Ofsted rating after its latest inspection.
Staff, learners and parents are celebrating the rating following their recent visit from the government inspectorate in March 2023.
Ofsted inspectors carried out deep dives into a range of subjects at the school, speaking with and observing subject leaders, teachers and pupils.
Ofsted praised the school for its ambitious curriculum and for putting reading at the heart of pupil learning, recognising the teachers confidence in delivering quality lessons in a wide range of subjects.
Leaders were praised for providing necessary resources for teachers to undertake work effectively and for establishing effective relationships with parents and carers.
The report noted that poor behaviour was rare, pupils concerns were taken seriously and incidents of bullying were dealt with effectively.
Parents are positive about the quality of education their children are receiving and Ofsted valued the school for its ability to provide effective support for pupils falling behind with their learning.
Leaders were appreciated for their ability to identify children’s special educational needs swiftly and appropriately however the inspectorate said leaders need to do more to monitor and track the progress of these pupils.
The school was also praised its effectiveness in identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns and for having strong relationships with external agencies.
Pupils personal development outside of the curriculum was also greatly supported and staff were noted as being highly positive about the support they were receiving from leaders to manage workloads and well-being.
