Pride of Longbridge will go ahead - but on a smaller scale

THE ORGANISERS of this year’s Pride of Longbridge Rally have confirmed the event will be going ahead tomorrow – but on a smaller scale, from 10am to 2pm, at Lowhill Lane, near the gates of the factory.

The persistent rain that has fallen over the last few days has meant no cars will be able to park on Cofton Park which is why Gemma Cartwright MBE has taken the decision.

“What we are saying is, if you are coming from far away and don’t need to travel then don’t.

“But if you are fairly local and can get here then do – it will still provide a great chance for former workers to meet up and talk about life at Longbridge.”

Visitors are urged to use public transport or walk where possible as the moving of the event means there will be less parking.

Gemma’s husband Andy, a former Rover worker, said: “We have to respect the park as it is needed all year round and we can’t sacrifice that for one day.

“It will still be a great event.”

Visit the ‘Pride of Longbridge 2018’ Facebook page, www.prideoflongbridge.co.uk or e-mail [email protected] for more information on the event.
